WILLIAMS' WINGED FEET

Jodie Williams, who left Heath Mount last summer and is currently in Year 9 at Queenswood, featured recently in the sports section of The Telegraph. Click here to read the whole article.

Jodie, 14, is a talented athlete who has never been beaten in her age group. In February, she took part in the Winter Open Graded Event in Eton, competing against senior men for the first time in the 60 metres.

Completing the 60 metres in just 7.45 seconds, Jodie not only achieved a new personal best, but put herself into the UK sporting record books. She is now the UK’s 2nd fastest under-15 girl of all time over the distance, currently just 0.1 seconds behind the record set in March 1989 by Katharine Merry (the Sydney Olympic Games 400 metres bronze medallist).

At Heath Mount, Jodie set many new records both on the field and in the pool, including:

20 metres Front Crawl in 10.81 seconds (October 2006)
20 metres Butterfly in 12.34 seconds (June 2007)

We wish Jodie every continued success and will be eagerly watching out for her over the next few years in the build up to the 2012 London Olympics.
