TIME TO THINK

Rainbows and Brownies, Beavers and Cubs came to school in uniform to celebrate World Thinking Day.

World Thinking Day is held on 22nd February – the birthday of both Lord and Lady Baden Powell, founders of the Guiding and Scouting movement.

All over the world, members of the guides and scouts think of each other on this day. The special day is also used to raise awareness of, and funds for, particular issues. This year the theme was “Think about water” and children were encouraged to find out about water’s importance to health and the issues of access to clean water and water conservation.

Elspeth Henderson, Chairman of the World Board of Guiding said, “World Thinking Day on 22 February is much more than an opportunity to raise funds. This special day provides us all with the chance to learn more about each other and also think about the important issue of water, and its impact on our lives.”
As a school, we have raised money for the Gordonstoun Thailand Water Project.  A group of Gordonstoun students, including one of our alumnae, Prue Hay (who left Heath Mount in 2003), went to a remote village in northern Thailand last August to take part in a project to provide the villagers with access to clean drinking water.  http://www.gordonstoun.org.uk/news/2007-2008/thailand-water-project-2007/

Prue fundraised to take part in the charity expedition, raising money through our school Carol Service and through her own fashion show where all the clothes were made from rubbish - Fashion Junkie!
