Frozen Easter Eggs?

Did you know that fewer people have been to the North Pole than to the top of Everest.  Kitty (Year 2) and Angus (Year 1) certainly do, because while the rest of us are looking forward to warmer weather and lots of chocolate, their dad, Iain, will be trudging through temperatures as low as – 50 degrees Celsius.

One of only five teams, Iain and two colleagues are taking part in the biennial Polar Race.  This is a 400mile self supporting expedition (pulling your own sledge with everything on it) from Resolute Bay, in Canada to the Magnetic North Pole.  Described as the “ultimate endurance race”, it will take about 3 ½ weeks by ski and foot.

Kitty and Angus are obviously looking forward to his return, but so are the rest of the Pre-Prep, as Iain has promised to do a talk to them all, with photographs and his equipment.  His progress will be followed closely on his team website www.pole-in-one.com and we hope the team raise lots of money for Childline, Down’s South and Combat Stress.
