    Christmas in the Community
Year 8 pupils were delighted to welcome elderly local residents to a festive lunch at the school followed by a special preview performance of the Year 2 Christmas production. Our Bax consort singers then visited our guests in Watton-at-Stone for a musical morning, bringing with them homemade mince pies, bunting and plenty of Christmas cheer!
This year, pupils brought a food donation to Christmas Jumper Day instead of the usual £1 and our Lower School pupils gave to a Reverse Advent Calendar. We were able to donate 152kg of supplies to the foodbank in Broxbourne as well as gifts for local residents in Watton-at-Stone and those attending the Sele School on Christmas day as part of the ‘Alone at Christmas’ initiative.
    Supporting Dalit Children
In January, the Year 8 pupils on the India trip were delighted to see the school bus, which the Heath Mount community had fundraised over £24,000 for as part of our charity partnership with ‘Supporting Dalit Children’. We also raised a further £1,350.00 to sponsor children at the Loyola and Kapepaladi Schools in Manvi
and Pannur. The children were happy to receive colourful new t-shirts and caps!
Sing Project
In the absence of their usual weekly singing sessions during our period of remote learning, pupils aged 9-13 rehearsed together online with Miss White and formed a virtual choir, thanking NHS staff and all key workers during the coronavirus crisis. A whopping 129 children recorded themselves singing Gary Barlow’s ‘Sing’ at home, which then, in turn, became part of the Heath Mount Big Sing.
Heath Mount Challenge 2020
On the afternoon of June 12th, the Heath Mount community came out in force to support the ‘Heath Mount 2020 Challenge’ to walk, run, cycle or swim 2020 miles to raise funds for East and North Herts hospitals’ charity. Not only did everyone complete
a staggering 2,575 miles between them (the same length of the Mississippi River!) but they smashed the fundraising target of £2,020 and raised a fantastic £5,182! The funds were donated to the Here for Each Other Appeal (supporting the nurses and doctors on the Covid-19 front line) and the Safe Space Appeal (to create a specific paediatric safe space in A&E to support children in crisis).
Thank you to Mrs Cove
and her School Council
team for coming up
with such a wonderful
initiative that brought
everyone together in
aid of a brilliant cause
and allowed the Heath
Mount spirit to shine
through during such a
difficult time.
