Roman Day
“We made oil from olives and put it in the lamps and lit them.”
“My favourite part of the day was the mosaic making because there were a lot of cool patterns that you could make.” George E
“The first thing I did was to make charms. I made a sword and shield and a picture of a helmet but they were so big Mr K said I would have to drag them into battle!” Henry P

A visit from ‘History Off The Page’ took our Year 4 children on a journey back in time to the Roman era where they made a selection of artefacts including brooches and fragrant scents, mosaics and charms. As they worked, the Battle of Boudicca versus the 9th Legion unfolded, naturally resulting in a Roman victory after some intensive battle formation practice.
“I went to write a letter to join the army and prayed to the gods that
I could join! I had to make the ink myself – it was very hard to crush the charcoal and sand.” Magnus B
