Admissions

Heath Mount welcomes applications from children between the ages of 3 and 13 irrespective of gender, race, religion, culture or disability.

Pupils can join our Nursery from the September following their third birthday.  Places are limited and our list for this class is always oversubscribed, therefore early registration is recommended.  Pupils who join our Nursery class are not pre-assessed and move on to our Reception class provided that they are academically, socially and emotionally ready to do so.

Children seeking entry into Reception are assessed next to their peers during a day spent at the school. This is an observational assessment that the children are unaware of.

Applicants for entry into Years 1 and 2 will undertake assessments in core literacy and numeracy skills in additional to an observational assessment within their peer group.

For entry into the Prep School for Year 3, assessments in Maths, reading and writing will take place in addition to an observational assessment. References will also be sought from the child’s current school.

Entry in Year 4 to Year 7 will involve placement assessments in English, Maths and Verbal Reasoning.  An observational assessment within the peer group will also take place and references will be sought from the child’s current school.

Waiting Lists and Places

Waiting lists operate in each Year group. These are divided within Year groups according to the academic set which an applicant might join – it is therefore not strictly first-come, first-served. This policy ensures that accepting a new child to Heath Mount doesn’t cause initial set movements for existing pupils and also ensures that we can meet the new pupil’s needs.
