Head of Choirs

The appointee will organise and conduct several of the school’s choirs under the direction of Richard Hutchins, Director of Music. There are currently 5 choirs at Heath Mount: the Pre-Prep Choir, the ‘Tuesday’ choir (open to all), the ‘Probationers’ Choir (by invitation), the ‘Chamber Choir’ (by invitation), and the ‘Bax’ Choir (by voice trials). The Chamber and Bax Choirs were combined for the BBC Songs of Praise competition and numbers 50 children. The appointee will be expected to hold regular rehearsals and to prepare the choirs for the many choral and public events throughout the year. Standards are very high and the appointee will have the ability to build further on these foundations. The school has an exceptional accompanist who works closely with the Head of Choirs. It is hoped to appoint a musician in residence for September 2008 to support the work of the department. There is no Saturday school and the appointee will not be required to undertake boarding duties. Heath Mount is a terrific place to work and the appointee would enjoy the friendship and support of talented colleagues.
