Head of English

The position involves leading English throughout the school, with particular emphasis on Common Entrance and Scholarship preparation in Years 7 and 8. The department is well resourced with attractive classrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards. There is a well-stocked library with a biometric management system. The school has recently launched a ‘Virtual Learning Environment’ (VLE) with the potential for blogs, pod casts and live video streaming. The successful candidate will lead the development of a new library facility and will be expected to develop the VLE to enhancing learning and teaching in English. Training will be given in respect of the VLE. The Head of English will also be part of the School’s new academic leadership team. The successful candidate will lead a strong and supportive department. An energetic and inspirational style of teaching is sought. /p>
