Pat Hawkins Visits the Palace!

Our Deputy Head Pat Hawkins and her husband Steve had a most exciting day on Tuesday when she visited Buckingham Palace for their annual garden party!

Pat received this very special invitation in recognition of her service to children and families. She was nominated by Lindsey Davies, who has had three children attend Heath Mount. Mrs Davies made the nomination in appreciation of all Pat has done for our school community and also for all the work she has done behind the scenes to support the local Middleton Primary School where she is a Governor.

Mrs Davies said “I have always been hugely impressed by Mrs Hawkins dedication to Heath Mount and her unfailing kindness and empathy towards pupils and parents alike – she is a truly invaluable fountain of knowledge and if you ring main switchboard late on a Friday night Pat will usually answer! I’m delighted that she has been recognised for her achievements!”

Pat was delighted that she got to see the Queen and Prince Phillip, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, and Edward and Sophie Wessex. But perhaps her favourite part of the day was when she exited the house and saw all the tourists looking enviably at her through the Royal Gates – she resisted the temptation to give a ‘royal wave’!

Pat said “I had a fantastic time, a magical day that I will never forget. The weather could not have been better and after enjoying the grounds we walked back up to the house and had tea and sandwiches – it was all marvellous”.
