The Magic Box Poems
Wildly imaginative poetry inspired by Kit Wright’s famous poem.
I will put in my box
The first flash of a lightning bolt,
The first song of a blue bird,
And the last shooting star.
I will put in my box
The first cub of a snow leopard,
The wish of the smallest penguin.
I will put in my box
Night stars for good luck,
An iceberg from the Arctic.
My box is fashioned from ice,
The thickest snow and shells.
My box has seas of dreams in the corners. The hinges are made from silver diamonds
From the cloak of a spider web. I shall ski and fly in my box to Hawaii and back
Then on the shiny, sparkling beaches of
New Zealand.

I will put into my box
A chocolate factory with a
never-ending Chocolate bar that has
golden chocolate
alligators swimming in it.
I will put into my box
A man that can speak to animals and the animals Will talk back to the man.
I will put into my box
Batman in a Queen’s Golden state carriage
And the Queen in a bat mobile!
I shall dive into the Pacific Ocean and
Swim with killer sharks and huge whales.

I will put in my box
A red rabbit as red as a really red ruby
And a leaf blinking in the sun
And a cat as soft as velveteen.
I will put in my box
A flower whispering in the breeze
And the first words of a baby.
My box is fashioned from
Diamonds, rubies, silver, emeralds and gold.
Its hinges are made from dragon finger nails and
the top is leopard print.
I shall ski in my box in the high mountains of Spain. Isabel B
I will put in my box
A dolphin with a divine day-dream, laughing leaves, A daisy dancing in the autumn breeze.
I will put in the box
A multi-coloured ice-cream as big as
Buckingham Palace, Candyfloss as big as the moon.
My box is fashioned from diamonds, amber, snowflakes and ice.
In the corners there are black holes with whole different
galaxies in.
I shall ride in my box on a horse
as black as midnight and As sparkly as silver glitter.
We shall ride fast and free.

A flounder flying in Florida,

A teacher in a jungle and a monkey
in the classroom,
A cow in the sky and an eagle in a farm.
I will put in the box
Grass that was dancing in the wind and a leaf
swimming in a puddle.
I will put in my box
A worm as big as a dinosaur.
My box is fashioned from leopard print fur with
steel silver hinges.
It’s made from water that comes all the way from
Canada.
I shall swim deep in my box in the Pacific Ocean
where
I can find clown fish, sharks and dolphins. I could
see lots of coral, too.
