the children came up with some outrageously over-the-top odes to their
  favourite foods.
Ode to Ice-Cream
Yummy ice cream, you’re slushy and you drip, A shivering flake in a freezing heap!
Ice cream, you are like a big fluffy cloud of
Coldness!
When I eat you, your taste is Heavenly!
I am so eager to eat you,
I eat you down in one big gulp!
Your chocolate chip melts in my mouth, So tasty, I crave for more!
Emily B
Ode to Salmon and Rice
Oh heavenly, pinky wonder,
Soft, gooey and lovely, not sickly and sweet! You are the best of the best.
I love the way you taste and smell,
You are fresh and fishy and fabulous to eat It is like a soft massage in my mouth.
BoH
Ode to a Danish Pastry
When I touched you my lips lit up, The gooey, soft, sweet sensation Crunchy, crispy base.
A delicate squishy, fragile treasure, Crumbly, moist, delicate as sand
You sit in my hand
I love you pastry
I really do.

      Ode to Strawberries
Oh strawberries, Oh strawberries
You are so juicy, red and sweet,
You are like a poppy shinin
in the summer’s heat.
I love the way you are fresh and wearing A green spiky hat.
When I taste you, I close my eyes.
You are dearer to me than biscuits,
I dream of you in the night.
Jack R
Ode to Pancakes
Oh Pancakes, You inspire me
every day
With your spongy
soft stacks.
You’re great to eat on a Sunday,
I always go dreamy when I see you. You’re a great breakfast treat,
You make me happy when I’m blue.
