Animation
It has been an action-packed year in animation classes as well as the popular junior animation and senior animation clubs. Year 3 have literally torn their way through some wonderful stop-motion films, animating fire-breathing dragons with coloured paper.
Year 5, meanwhile, used rotoscoping to create some Dancing Robots with some serious moves. Their next challenge was to make a sprite based around their favourite season. They learnt all about motion-capture animation, using their movements and projecting them onto their sprites, to create a beautiful representation of the changing on the seasons. Accompanied by Edvard Grieg’s dramatic piece In the Hall of the Mountain King, their animation perfectly captured the chaos of nature and the energy of our young animators.
Year 6 have worked on their sculpting techniques, animating their own clay morphs inspired by Henry Moore as well sculpting Vincent Van Gogh style sunflowers from plasticine; animating them as they ‘bloomed’ from the famed impressionist’s vase. During this project they learnt all about stop motion animation and the importance of design when creating their own original work.
Lastly, Year 7 have been getting technical learning about the animation industry and creating funky and fun digitally animated music videos.
