Every year Heath Mount children are prepared for, and go on to, the senior school of their choice, many with scholarships. The Headmaster meets every family to discuss their aspirations for their child and helps to guide them through the process of finding the right school. We provide continuous advice to guide families through the senior school process which begins several years before the Common Entrance Exams in Year 8 as many schools now undertake Pre-Test assessments in Year 6 or Year 7.
Heath Mount children gain entrance to senior schools throughout the UK including Eton, Harrow, Radley, Winchester, Benenden, Brighton College, Haileybury, Felsted, Bishop’s Stortford College, The Leys, Uppingham, Oundle, Rugby, Ampleforth, Tudor Hall and Stowe.
In the academic year 2017-18, we gained 42 scholarships to senior schools, a pleasing increase on the 32 achieved in the previous year. As always some children achieved more than one scholarship. In total 26 different children, out of a year group of 45, gained at least one scholarship.
One child has gained the Neil White scholarship to The Leys. This scholarship is awarded to pupils who are able to contribute at a very high standard in two or three different fields, and show potential for leadership. The Neil White Award is often not awarded at all – it is a rare accolade and particularly prestigious.
We also celebrated academic success to Benenden, Bishop’s Stortford College, The Leys, Haileybury and Queenswood and General and Art scholarships to Oundle.
