Marking Children's Mental Health Week

Staff Create Special Wellbeing Programme To Support Pupils' Mental Health

The whole school has celebrated Children's Mental Health Week with an inspiring array of assemblies and activities exploring this year's theme of Growing Together; encouraging children (and adults) to consider how they have grown and how they can help others grow. We kicked off on Monday by watching the Place2Be's virtual assemblies where we heard first-hand the struggles and strategies used by children in relation to mental health and wellbeing.

In the Middle and Upper Schools, tutors have used their form times to help the pupils understand the different areas associated with children’s mental health. Children enjoyed wellbeing walks in the school woods with our new nurture dog, Eric, practised their yoga flows, tried out meditation and read around the camp fire in Forest school. Mrs Steward, our full-time counsellor, offered a drop in session in the Rainbow room for a “chill n chat” with some sensory play activities and there was mindful colouring and knitting indoors.  In the Lower School, Year 4 enjoyed smoothie-making in food tech, exploring the importance of a healthy, balanced diet; looking at what each food group does for the body and how this can impact our mood.

We would like to thank both our pupils and staff for highlighting the importance of Children’s Mental Health, not only this week but every day.
