Year 3's Celtic Adventure

Hands-on-history at Celtic Harmony Camp

Year 3 children were able to put all their learning about Celtic Culture into action with a trip to Celtic Harmony Camp in Brickendon this week.  They explored the impressive roundhouses and experienced what it was like to be in a real Celtic settlement; taking part in craft activities such as weaving headdresses and learning how to be warriors.  The pupils also went on a special woodland quest, following clues and working out riddles.

"My favourite part of the day was the warrior training because I loved fighting the Romans (our teachers!)" says Bertie.  Noah's highlight was the archery workshop: "I was happy getting bullseye on the first go."  "Best of all was the woad face painting," adds Esme, "we learnt about the reason it was blue, and I painted my friend's face."
