Forest School

Our Forest School is an integral part of our holistic approach to education and emotional wellbeing in the Early Years Curriculum.  This stimulating learning environment offers pupils from Nursery up to Year 3 the chance to be hands-on investigators and free-thinkers whose creativity and imagination can run wild.

Pre-Prep children love their weekly sessions in Heath Mount's own Stumble Trip Woods. Whether they are going on a mini-beast hunt, trying out saws and hammers or cooking in the mud kitchen, there's fun and adventure galore. We know children love to be in the great outdoors and at Heath Mount we are lucky to have acres of woodland and parkland for our boys and girls to enjoy!

Under the expert guidance of our ranger, Heath Mount's youngest pupils are able to take supported risks - including using a variety of tools - and start to acquire essential life skills of resilience, self-belief and independence. During their weekly sessions they develop an understanding of nature and how we can care for our environment, helping create and protect natural habitats for the local wildlife.

Come join us for a hot chocolate around the camp-fire and make a bug hotel or create a beautiful artwork out of forest materials!

"A fantastic woodland area behind the Pre-Prep building where - among other things - children recreate stories they've enjoyed in class (Such as The Scarecrow's Wedding) and re-enact The Great Fire of London by setting cardboard Tudor Houses ablaze."
