Fees Assistance

Heath Mount offers a number of awards and scholarships, together with means-tested financial support to help with fees. Our Governors are keen to encourage excellence in academia, the arts and sport and are committed to broadening access to the school.

We offer scholarships to Years 7 & 8 in Art, Music, Sport, Academia and also a General award. Internal and external candidates from Year 6 (aged 10) onwards are encouraged to apply in early January each year. Children who are given a scholarship are expected to take part in the exciting, rich and diverse scholarship programme that we have for each discipline.

Academic Awards

Potential Academic Scholars are required to sit Maths, English and Verbal Reasoning papers at the start of the Spring term in year 6 and those scoring above a pre-determined threshold in one or more areas are awarded a fixed termly scholarship beginning the following Autumn term.

Scholarships – Sport Awards

The Heath Mount Sports Scholarship exists to recognise children with a high level of sporting potential. Our scholarship programme include guest speakers, coaches and extra lessons on nutrition and human biology. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a talent in sport and will be tested in a range of sporting disciplines before being offered an award.

Scholarships – Music and Art

The standards in Music and Art are exceptionally high at Heath Mount. In music we would expect a child to be learning at least two instruments (can include voice) and one to at least grade 5 by the end of Year 6. Children are also expected to be able to sight read. Children are assessed by our Head of Music. Children awarded a Music scholarship are expected to attend the Music Scholarship programme.

In Art children are required to undertake a drawing exam and present some pre-determined course work to the Head of Art. If selected for an award children are expected to take part in all extra scholarship sessions and some weekend master classes. Children are required to work at home on various projects.

Scholarships - General

Heath Mount offers a number of scholarships to children who are strong across a number of disciplines/subjects. Children applying for this award will need to sit the Academic tests.

Unlike bursaries, all scholarships are awarded for the duration of a child’s time at Heath Mount, subject to terms and conditions of acceptance.

Please contact the School Office for more details – call on 01920 830230 or email office@heathmount.org.

Bursary Fund

A Bursary may be awarded in the form of a discount of up to 100% on school fees payable, depending on financial or other relevant circumstances of applicants. Requests for support usually fall into two categories:

  • New applicants to the school, where a place is offered but parents or guardians are unable to fund tuition fees
  • Existing pupils where a change in parents or guardians’ circumstances results in difficulty in meeting tuition fees, and may result in the child being withdrawn part way through a stage of education

Awards, which are subject to annual review, are made on the basis of a Bursary Application Form and supporting documentation. Factors considered by the Governors can include savings, investments and realisable assets as well as income, size of family, other dependents, compassionate and other considerations.

The school always respects the confidentiality of bursary awards, and recipients are expected to do the same. Please contact the Bursar for more details – email finance@heathmount.org.
