Whole School Open Morning

Pupils and Staff Give A Warm Welcome To Prospective Families

We were delighted to welcome so many families for our Whole School Open Morning on Saturday.  Blessed with blue skies and sunshine, our Year 7 & 8 tour guides did a wonderful job of showing prospective families around our beautiful, rural campus.  Pupils from Year 1 upwards joined us for an action-packed morning of activities to help give our visitors an insight into the rich academic, creative, sporting and musical life of the school.

After a tour of our outstanding Nursery and Pre-Prep facilities, our visitors headed to Stumble Trip Wood to see a Forest School session. Ranger Shenton showed pupils how to whittle sticks to make their own charcoal pencils and to make the perfect toasted marshmallows.  Also enjoying fresh air and our idyllic natural surroundings were our Middle School pupils who joined Mr Nightingale, Head of Outdoor Education, for some team-building and bush craft skills.

Meanwhile, it was an energetic scene on the astro turf and in the pool as our sports department took the pupils through some fun drills and games.  Over in the Lower School, Year 4 pupils spent the morning discovering more about Roman life and making some Roman-inspired crafts, while in the Performing Arts Centre our Head of Drama, Mrs Mann, led a magical theatre workshop focussing on improvisation and imagination.  In the main Mansion House, our basement area was buzzing with creativity.  Activities ranged from pottery and print-making to animation workshops, sewing and baking. Visiting families also saw a coding and robotics lesson and visited the music room to hear from our talented scholars.

At the end of the tour our guests enjoyed delicious refreshments courtesy of our caterers Holroyd Howe, and our youngest visitors were rewarded with their own Heath Mount teddy after completing the fun teddy bear hunt around the school.

We look forward to hosting our Pre-Prep Open Morning in February when families can see our Nursery, Reception, Year 1 & 2 classes in action on a normal school day.  Headmaster Mr Gillam is also available for private tours during the working week.  To book, please contact our registrar Louise Cook on 01920 832 916 who will be happy to arrange a date.
