Contact Heath Mount

Dear Parents

This week, the Nation was blessed with the sight and experience of a once-in-a-lifetime Super Blue Blood Moon, but this celestial spectacular struggled to compete with the attention of the young minds of Heath Mount School, as they whirlwind through another fantastic five days.

When walking through the grounds of Heath Mount, one can barely step without tripping over a mound of musical instrument cases. More often than not there is a small child under them, trying to make their way to or from their rehearsal or lesson with a look of pride on their faces. Heath Mount is awash with musical talent and this week the instrumentalists got to showcase their hard work and talents in the Orchestras and Ensembles Concert. With a programme covering Handel and Coldplay, The Brandenburg Concerto and the One Finger Dance, there was not 0ne member of the audience who was not suitably entertained.

After a highly successful set of fixtures, a selection of our sporting stars from Years 6 and 7 were welcomed at Felsted School, who hosted a set of sporting Master Classes, and it was great to see the future sporting greats learn and develop the key skills needed to make it to the highest levels.

Mr Dawes’ Assembly this week was a particular highlight, as he spoke – and got the pupils thinking – about our brains; what they are for and how to keep them healthy. He encouraged us all to question things – is there really a bus buried in the Antarctic? – before jumping to conclusions and reminded us that our children’s brains are still growing. They can already do so many things and have almost endless potential, but it is not always going to be easy. Sometimes we need to practice things, not only to acquire new skills and knowledge, but to train our brains into a positive mental attitude resilient mind set. Our brains need rest to work properly. With one week left before the half-term holiday, we are going to have a school full of brains that are going to need it!
