Simba, Timon, Pumba and friends visit Heath Mount School
Awesome acting combined with spectacular singing and the most amazing costumes and props, transformed the school stage into African Pride Lands before half term. The colourful and challenging musical featured popular songs such as The Circle of Life, I just Can’t Wait to be King and Hakuna Matata, and the whole cast had worked tremendously hard to ensure that they did justice to Disney’s magnificent story.
A Wonderful Performance
Janine Barlow, Head of Drama at Heath Mount, produced and directed a team of over 50 students, ably assisted by teachers Caroline Marley and Cassie Pay. Chris Gillam, Headmaster of Heath Mount School, commented, ‘I am so grateful for all that Janine and all involved put into this wonderful performance. The children worked so hard and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was amazing to see them all given the chance to show off their acting and singing skills in this wonderful showcase. The Lion King is an iconic Disney production and we knew at the outset this was a very challenging show, but our children were amazing”.
As well as the acting, singing and dancing, the children were thrilled to be able to use the outstanding props produced by teacher Simon Pay, including a magnificent headwear and a huge moving giraffe!
