Our Governors are volunteers with a wide and impressive range of personal and professional experience. Many are either former pupils or parents of current or former pupils of the school, so they have a real understanding and appreciation of our history and ethos
Mrs Juliette Hodson
Chair of Governors, Chair of the Strategy Committee and Acting Chair of the Education Committee
Juliette is an experienced EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 teacher who now works supporting the CEO and Senior Leadership Team of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, managing their internal governance and communications. As well as a long career in teaching, she has also completed the foundation stage qualification as a children’s counsellor which she completed with Place2Be.
Juliette joined the board 12 years ago while her daughters were pupils at Heath Mount, taking on the role of Chair of the Board in September 2016, once they had both moved on to senior school. She is passionate about the education of children and is proud of the holistic and ambitious environment that Heath Mount provides, where all students have the opportunity to thrive and discover their own talents. She is delighted to be able to serve on the Heath Mount board of Governors.
Juliette is also the Safeguarding Governor along with oversight of SMSC and EYFS.
Andrew Rickards
Chair of the Finance Committee
After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in the UK Andrew moved into investment banking and worked for some of the leading names in the field of finance including Goldman Sachs and Rothschild & Co. He spent over twenty years in banking in Asia before running a conglomerate in South East Asia with a wide range of activities. He returned to the UK in 2021 and is active as an investor in technologies. Andrew has a BSc in Engineering Science from the University of Exeter. He is a current Heath Mount parent.
Andrew joined the board in 2023 and is the Chair of the Finance Committee and sits on the Strategy Committee.
Simon Heard
Simon is Headmaster of Sherborne Boys School in Dorset, having previously been Deputy Master at Haileybury, Hertfordshire. He has spent nearly 20 years in independent coeducational boarding and day schools, in a variety of roles. Simon is married to Isabel, and they have six children and enjoys skiing, walking and cycling holidays in the Alps.
Simon joined the board in 2024 and is a member of the Education Committee.
Richard Fiddes
Chair of the Buildings and Infrastructure Committee
Richard is a Chartered Surveyor and Project Manager. He holds an honours degree from the University of Reading and is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
He is a consultant at Newmark Gerald Eve, where he focusses on advising clients in the charitable, education and healthcare sectors. He was previously European Managing Partner of King Sturge and an International Director of JLL. He has particular experience in public private partnerships, and in the management of technical and construction risk.
Richard joined the board in 2023 and chairs the Buildings Committee and is a member of the Finance Committee. He is the responsible Governor for Health and Safety. Richard is a former Heath Mount parent.
Helen Rayfield
After completing a Maths degree at University College London, Helen joined the insurance industry where she has worked for the last 38 years.
She has a Masters in Statistics and is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute. She was a Managing Director at Marsh insurance brokers where she spent 25 years specialising mainly in Risk Finance and Client Management. After a number of years as a Consultant, she moved to Howden insurance brokers where she is responsible for their corporate insurances globally. Helen is a former Heath Mount parent.
Helen is a member of the Finance, Governance and Strategy Committees and joined the board in 2016.
Edward Campbell-Gray
After attending St Johns College School and then Bedford School Edward attained a degree at the University of East Anglia in International Development.
Edward has had a successful career in both commodity and fixed income trading with top tier institutions. Currently working for a small partnership that assists projects and organisations to provide both environmental and social impact across the globe.
Edward's connection to Heath Mount is longstanding, with his eldest brother attending the school and, subsequently, his mother teaching special educational needs for many years. Interestingly, the Heath Mount Choir sang at Edward’s wedding in 1989.
Edward has been a governor at Heath Mount since 2009 and serves on the Buildings and Finance committees.
Annie Friedlein
Annie Friedlein led communications, marketing and digital teams for arts and heritage organisations including the Serpentine Gallery, Henry Moore Foundation, Art Fund and London Borough of Southwark Arts Service. She co-founded Detail, a consultancy whose clients included Gascoyne Cecil Estates at Hatfield House, Hertfordshire, as well as a range of arts and heritage charities and businesses. Annie has an MA from the University of Cambridge, from the Courtauld Institute at the University of London, and from the University of East Anglia. She was on the advisory board of professional community networking app, Guild. She runs fiction group The Larder Collective and published two books of their work with Penhaligon Press. She volunteers in family workshops at the National Centre for Writing, Norwich. Annie is a Trustee of The Haven Trust, working with an orphanage in southern Kenya; and The Charles Causley Trust, a literary charity based in Launceston, Cornwall. Her two daughters attended Heath Mount.
Joining the board in 2024, Annie is a member of the Education Committee and is also the SEND Governor.
Kester Scrope
Kester is CEO of Odgers, an international recruitment firm. His early career was in manufacturing industry holding senior positions for Mondi and also on the board of a listed technology business.
He holds a BA in History from Newcastle University, an MBA from Cranfield University and is a Trustee of an education charity. His three children are all former Heath Mount pupils.
Kester joined the board in 2022 and is a member of the Buildings Committee.
Lisa Pillay
Lisa was a Managing Director working in the Investment Banking sector for nearly 40 years as part of both American and Japanese global Firms, leading large teams in both Operations and Project Management.
She has also been very active in the development of female leadership in the Investment Banking industry, leading a number of initiatives to nurture talent and help generate growth opportunities.
Lisa was a Heath Mount parent, her daughter leaving after 10 very happy years in 2024. She joined the board in 2025 and is a member of the Finance and Strategy Committees.
