Heath Mount Carol Service

A heavenly evening of carols and readings at Haileybury Chapel

Our service started with the traditional Once in Royal solo, sung from the organ loft with true poise and serenity by Year 8 soloist Jamie.  The evening included sublime performances of The First Tree in the Greenwood, Stille Nacht and the impressive three-part canon of Benjamin Britten’s This little Babe.  Our talented violinist, Mrs Hembrough joined Bax Choir in their performance of Still, Still, Still by Mack Wilberg, and the beauty of their sound was breathtaking.  The Chamber Choir performed with energy and commitment, making every word crystal clear, and the readers, some as young as Year 3, spoke with true composure.

From start to finish, the service moved the congregation to tears, and you could hear a pin drop when Flora sang O Holy Night (see below).  The service concluded with the brilliantly titled Jingle Bells Forever by our Concert Band, who rounded the evening off in true marching band style!

We are grateful to Haileybury for kindly allowing us the use of their magnificent chapel, and the Reverend Chris Stoltz for leading the service.
