The Good Schools Guide Review 2024

"A thriving prep that’s as popular with parents as it is with pupils. The musical, the sporty and eager all-rounders of every kind will flourish at Heath Mount."

The Good Schools Guide 2024

We are delighted to say that the latest review of Heath Mount by The Good Schools Guide has now been published.  The prestigious guide is known for its honest and unbiased reviews of schools around the country.  You can read the full review here. Schools are selected to appear in the guide on merit alone.

In the new review there is high praise for our Headmaster, Chris Gillam, who has been at the helm of Heath Mount for the past 9 years.

"Visible, vivacious and visionary, [Chris Gillam, Headmaster] greets everyone in the morning, shows prospective families around Heath Mount’s idyllic 40-acre site and cheers energetically on the side-lines at matches... Parents trust him, the appointments he makes and his ability to orchestrate his team to evolve, enhance and improve. "

The review particularly emphasises the school's commitment to nurturing pupils as individuals and finding the right senior school for each child.

The range of senior destinations is a wide one, testament to school’s ability to guide pupils individually. Currently popular are Haileybury, Bishop’s Stortford College, Felsted and St Albans Boys’ and Girls’ schools, but leavers also go on to many other big names including Eton, Rugby, Harrow, Brighton College, Wycombe Abbey, Ampleforth, Oundle, Uppingham, Radley, The Leys and Millfield.

We loved the description of our Nursery and Pre-Prep setting as an 'infant utopia" which provides endless stiumulation for those important early years!

Pupils entering at nursery and pre-prep must feel they have arrived in an infant utopia, complete with sandpits, slides, shaded areas, sensory woodland trails, wooden workstations (including a drum kit), mud kitchens, guinea pigs, fish and more. We saw interactive maths, storytelling in the new outdoor classroom and pupils immersed in construction activities. With these facilities and timetabled sessions at forest school it’s difficult to see how pupils could not be stimulated.

We are looking forward to welcoming prospective parents at our upcoming Nursery & Pre-Prep Open Morning on Friday 1st March.
