Heath Mount's senior choirs are thrilled to be joining award-winning soprano Susan Parkes, Letchworth Community Voices and BBC presenter, Pam Rhodes, for a charity concert next month. The evening will celebrate choral singing in aid of our Zambian education projects at Letchworth Free Church on March 20th. Having introduced a huge range of choir performances on BBC's Songs of Praise, Pam says she is "always keen to encourage both the challenge of singing in, and the pleasure of listening to wonderful music performed by choirs of all ages and abilities." Year 6 pupil Charlie has achieved a phenomenal haul of 17 medals and set 3 new county records at the Herts County Swimming Championships an extraordinary achievement that reflects both his remarkable talent and his unwavering dedication to training. Over the past few weeks, Charlie - who also trains with @stevenageswimmingclub - has won gold medals in the following U12 races: 1500m Freestyle, 800m Freestyle, 400m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle, 200m Breaststroke,100m Breaststroke, 50m Breaststroke, 200m Backstroke,100m Backstroke, 50m Backstroke, 200m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly, 50m Butterfly, 400IM, 200IM. He also achieved a silver medal in 100m freestyle and a bronze in 50m freestyle. Another record-breaker was our inspirational Boys' Swim Captain, Izaak, who won gold in the U13 50m breaststroke, earning a county record in the process. The Year 8 pupil, who has recently been selected to attend the Swim England County development programme and also trains with hertford_swimming_club, also earned silver in the 100m Breaststroke and bronze in the 200m Breaststroke. Congratulations to Charlie and Izaak as well as our five other talented swimmers who qualified for, and competed in, the championships. Together with other members of the swim squad, they have been working hard in the pool during their timetabled lessons and Friday morning swim training sessions. Their energy, sportsmanship, and team spirit have been nothing short of inspiring. On Monday, Year 2 celebrated their newfound knowledge of Ancient Egypt with a special dress-up day full of fun craft activities that included carving scarab beetles into soap, drawing hieroglyphs onto papyrus and decorating headdresses.
