Well done to Year 8 pupils Zach and Daisy who represented Heath Mount at the @iapsuksport sailing competition in Portland, Dorset. Despite less than ideal conditions and tough competition from local schools, they achieved a very respectable 12th place out of 33 boats. What's even more impressive is that this was their first time sailing together, displaying that renowned Heath Mount team spirit and determination! It's fantastic to see Zach and Daisy enjoying their sailing and developing their interests outside of school. Zach is also a keen golfer, guitarist and trombone player while Daisy plays drums and violin and sings in our Bax choir. Both are also members of our LEGO Robotics team!

A huge thank you to @oundleschool_sport for hosting a special experience day for fourteen of our Year 5 pupils. The children enjoyed an action-packed morning, working on their fast reaction sprint skills, followed by a handball session and strength and conditioning exercises (including bear-crawling and plank challenges). There was also the chance to swim in the impressive pool and play water polo with Oundle's Head of Swimming before enjoying a delicious lunch and tour of the school. One of the day's many highlights was meeting up with Heath Mount alumnus and former sports scholar, Harry - it was great to hear about how he has been getting on!

What better way to bring the story of 'The Little Red Hen' to life than a visit from our very own Heath Mount hens? Yesterday, Headmaster Mr Gillam opened up the Animal Homestead to give our Pre-Nursery children a chance to hold, stroke and feed our friendly hens as well as our guinea pigs and rabbits. This talented trio have just helped @hertford_hockey_club become national champions for the first time in 39 years!! We're incredibly proud of Billy, Xavi and Will who all played brilliantly at the National Finals last Saturday. The club won their group games 5-2 v Haslemere, 6-0 v York, 5-1 v Clifton Robinsons making it to the final versus Spencer which they won 3-0 to become champions. Huge congratulations to the whole squad on their superb achievement. Boys' hockey has become hugely popular at Heath Mount and we're passionate about supporting pupils who want to take their game to the next level through our co-curricular clubs programme and sport scholarship enrichment pathway. @englandhockey #ilovehertford @hertslife
