We offer weekday private tours with Mr Gillam, Headmaster, for prospective families looking for places in Nursery up to Year 7.
Our youngest pupils have had a fantastic day of sport, teamwork and fun at their Pre-Prep Sports Days. Themed around the Football World Cup, the children tacked a host of obstacle and running races with great enthusiasm and determination - cheered on by their parents and teachers. Well done all! #prepreplife #sportsday #hertford #privateschool
Not your average passenger to school! Year 7 pupils have been brilliant at helping out with morning 'kiss and drop' duties in the absence of our Year 8s this week and were thrilled to meet a very cuddly lamb who had come along for the ride! Just goes to prove, there's no such thing as an ordinary day at Heath Mount! #countryschool #countrylife
Last week, Year 5 enjoyed two very special history-themed experiences to learn more about tlife in the Middle Ages and also introduce their next topic, the Tudors! First, they visited Hedingham Castle where they discovered more about the Feudal System as well the Norman Conquest. This is one of the best-preserved Norman tower keeps in the country, giving our pupils a fantastic window into the past. The Castle was constructed in around 1140 by Aubrey de Vere, the first Earl of Oxford, whose father had fought with William the Conqueror. As well as getting to explore this incredible historic building, the children took part in a series of workshops and activities to enrich their understanding of our medieval topic that they have been studying this year. These included meeting Lady Oxford, who led a session exploring who was who within the castle, and what sort of jobs people were doing there 800 years ago. The children also enjoyed an interesting talk by the wise woman on medicinal plants and healing, demonstrations of weapons and armour by an old soldier whose job it was to train young recruits, and an archer. Time was also spent with a man-at-arms learning about ways to attack and defend a medieval castle, which will feed into our final history topic for this year. The children were also treated to a display of various medieval instruments and music by the castle's minstrels and learned how to do a dance from the period. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and informative day! Year 5 students also took part in another history enrichment experience, with a visit by King Henry VIII himself to Heath Mount. This workshop was designed to set up our next history topic, with some pre-teaching on the Tudor period, the Wars of the Roses and the reign of Henry VIII. Having an actor visit us to deliver this session, with the various props used to bring the experience to life, created a fun but powerful learning experience! #history #curriculum #bringinglearningtolife #enrichment #privateschool #hertford #hedinghamcastle
The U11 girls were a credit to Heath Mount at St George's Park - the national centre for football - at the @isfafootball national finals today. In a very tight and competitive group, the girls drew 2, lost 1 and won 1 game in the first four matches. This meant that they needed to win by 2 or more goals in the last group game vs Perse to progress into the semifinals. The girls came out firing - with goals from Isla, Evie and Xa and a 3-0 victory set up a semi final vs Brentwood School. The girls battled hard from the first whistle but it was relentless pressure from Brentwood throughout and a 0-2 loss against worthy finalists. It was an incredible experience to play on the same pitches as the Lionesses. Heath Mount was definitely the best supported school on show!
