  • Reception pupils have had a fascinating week exploring the famous Japanese Sapporo Snow Festival which features incredible ice and snow sculptures. In Explore and Learn time, the children continued the wintry theme by testing the temperature of some giant ice blocks and making slime snowmen. One of the highlights was learning all about the difference between our snowmen and the Japanese version - yukidarumas -which are named after the traditional Japanese wishing doll. These are often simply decorated, made from just two balls of snow, and associated with good fortune. Pupils have been writing lucky messages on their own paper yukidarumas whilst learning how to say hello and goodbye in Japanese! In our cultural immersion classes, our youngest pupils enjoy discovering cultures, languages and traditions from across the globe through stories, crafts and role-play. Curious to find out more about our creative Early Years curriculum? Come and find out more at our upcoming Open Morning on Tuesday, 24th February, 9-11am. See link in bio to book your place or email Mrs Louise Cook at registrar@heathmount.org to arrange a private tour. #earlyyears #reception #privateschool #hertford #hertfordshireschools #curriculum #enrichment #learningisfun

  • Our netballers have had a brilliant time playing against some fantastic Dorset teams, kindly hosted by the sports departments at @bryanstonschool and @canfordschool. They all did Hertfordshire - and Heath Mount - proud, with the U11 team earning well-fought wins against Millfield, Port Regis, Sandroyd, Hazel Grove and Dumpton before achieving a 7-6 win against Hoe Bridge in the final! The U10s, meanwhile, won their games against Twyford, Farleigh and Dumpton, winning against Sandroyd in the semis before scoring 10-3 in the final against Dumpton. Our senior girls also had a fantastic day, with the U13 team winning their match against Bryanston followed by a triangular fixture against Talbot Heath U14s and Millfield, winning 20-17 and 19-15 respectively in some very physical games against tough opposition. Yesterday, they also had a great experience playing Canford U14 and U15 teams. It's fair to say there are some very tired but happy girls on their way home tonight - they should all be very proud of themselves! A huge thank you to the sports department for organising and looking after the girls on their netball tour and to all the parents who came along to support. Finally, an enormous thanks to Bryanston and Canford for the very warm welcome we received! #prepschool #sport #netball #tour #hertford #privateschool

  • We recently surveyed our new parents to find out how they had found their children's first term at Heath Mount. We are proud to share some of the wonderful responses we received. Many parents commented on the kind and happy children we have here, the incredibly warm welcome they received from their first enquiry onwards, the way teachers go above and beyond and how they help pupils settle into school life, responding quickly to any concerns. We are now registering children for Nursery & Reception places for September and would like to invite any prospective families to come and visit us on our upcoming Open Morning on Tuesday, 24th February, or on a private tour on a weekday to suit you. If you would like to have an initial chat to find out more about our admissions process, please contact Mrs Cook, our registrar, on 01920 832916. She would be delighted to answer any queries and knows the school inside out having worked here for over 20 Years! • Our new FIRST LEGO League tables have been a fantastic addition to our computing lab, inspiring pupils to build on their coding and robotics skills. A big thank you to our parents' association, the du Maurier Society, for providing the funding. Heath Mount's Year 8 LEGO League competition team have been making the most of the tables to prepare for their @first_official_ LEGO Challenge Tournament taking place at the Institution of Engineering & Technology in Stevenage on January 23rd. The challenge is a global STEM programme for teams of young people, to encourage an interest in real world themes and develop key skills that are crucial for their future careers. Young people work together to explore a given topic and to design, build and program an autonomous LEGO® robot to solve a series of missions. #education #computing #coding #hertford #privateschool #robotics #STEM #legoleague
