We're celebrating more cross country success following the Herts Primary Schools Championships in Bushey yesterday. Over a hundred children took part in each race and any top 12 finishers qualified for nationals in March. Congratulations to Flora for winning the Year 5 girls race and to Xa (4th place) Isla (7th place) and Charlie (4th place) - all of whom can now compete in the Northampton finals. Together with senior pupil William, we now have 5 national finalists- our best results yet! Mr Russell was incredibly proud of all of our middle school runners. A further 7 pupils also achieved top 20 finishes - an impressive feat in a very competitive field. #passionforsport #crosscountry #hertfordshire
We were very proud of one of our Year 8 boys for winning the Coach's Award at the @first_legoleague Challenge competition held in Stevenage last Friday. As there could only be 10 children on the team, he volunteered to step back and instead take on the job of encouraging and supporting the other members of the Heath Mount Robotics Team. What a brilliant example of embodying our Heath Mount and First Lego League values! Our team members were excited to compete at the Institute of Engineering & Technology in their first ever LEGO league competition. They performed fantastically, presenting in front of a panel of judges and competing in three matches. The team completed all the missions that they attempted and achieved their target score. Mrs Annies was very proud of them all! #STEM #robotics #schoolvalues #legoleague
Our Forest School leader, Ranger Shenton, loves snow and has been rather disappointed that January didn't bring some more flurries! So, with a little imagination (and a lot of flour), she tasked Reception children with creating some snowy pictures in our woodland this week. Using sieves and templates, the children did a brilliant job of frosting branches and creating images of snowflakes, snowmen and polar bears. They were rewarded afterwards with a lovely, warming cup of berry juice. Did you know? Pre-Prep parents are invited to volunteer at Forest School sessions! It's just one of the many ways we welcome families to get involved and enjoy a special window onto their children's learning. You can visit our magical Forest School on our upcoming Open Morning on Tuesday 24th February... just don't forget your wellies!
