Our Year 8s and staff said a fond farewell to the team and patients at Twende Education For All yesterday. The Lusaka-based charity provides a lifeline to families of children undergoing long-term hospital treatment, supporting the children’s education and providing play therapy. A huge thank you to Twende founder Andrea for welcoming us into the new outdoor learning hub and explaining Twende’s impact on young lives. Our pupils loved getting involved in playtime and making new friends. We are so proud to be able to support Twende and sponsor some of the teacher salaries to enable their inspiring work to continue. With their trip to Zambia drawing to a close, Year 8 fitted in an incredibly special visit to @chaminukalodge back in Lusaka Province - home to over 70 animal species. Thanks to the generosity of Heath Mount families, our Year 8 pupils were able to deliver a bumper supply of baby clothes and medical equipment to the local health clinic in rural Namoomba yesterday. Over at Namoomba School, pupils also handed out new school caps for all the children as well as some play equipment before getting to work painting a classroom. We couldn't be prouder of our Year 8s for getting stuck in, embracing new experiences and building connections with their peers in Zambia. 🌍 This unforgettable trip is about so much more than travel! Our pupils are discovering the value of making a positive difference in the world around them. It's an opportunity to learn from others, challenge perspectives, grow in confidence, empathy and independence, and develop a deeper understanding of what it means to be active and responsible global citizens. 33 of our Year 8 pupils have been enjoying some exciting encounters with the Zambezi's wildlife on their half-term trip to Zambia. During their stay at Mukalya Private Game Reserve, they have ventured out by boat and jeep for some thrilling safaris to spot elephants, hippos, lions and monkeys and more. The team at @mukalya_zambia have been incredible hosts, a big thank you to them for the warm welcome and all of the delicious meals! Pupils have certainly made the most of any downtime in the beautiful pool, relaxing on the terraces, enjoying the awe-inspiring sunsets and playing traditional games.
