News & Events

  • 2 WEEKS TODAY! Heath Mount's Charity Colour Run is nearly here and we can't wait to fundraise for our school charities in the most colourful way possible! We are thrilled to have partnered with the@woodhallestate.uk to host our colour run in their stunning grounds on Saturday, 13th June. Mr & Mrs Archer will be leading this year's warm-up, Mr Pay will be on DJ duty, and our holiday camp partner @letsleapholidaycamps will be providing a fun archery session. Our Event Village includes a delicious BBQ, ice cream, bar, and merchandise stall. ALUMNI WELCOME The whole Heath Mount community is invited and we would love our alumni to join in too! It's the perfect chance to reunite with your friends and make some more Heath Mount memories. Please email schooloffice@heathmount.org for a ticket link. Where will the money go? Funds raised go towards Twende Education For All, an amazing NGO providing in-hospital education and play therapy to children undergoing treatment for cancer and sickle-cell anaemia in Lusaka. We are also supporting Namoomba School and Msukwe Bush Clinic near the Zambezi with essential educational and medical supplies. Those pupils who have been on our annual Year 8 trip to Zambia will have seen first-hand the impact that their fundraising can make. Please do help us make a difference.

  • The heatwave has us dreaming of a trip to the seaside! Luckily for Year 1, the seaside will be coming to them on June 12th when we recreate a traditional Victorian seaside promenade in the Pre-Prep. In preparation for their special day, the children have been painting watercolour pictures of seashells for their seabed sculptures and crafting jolly beach hut photo frames. Well done, Year 1! #prepreplife #Hertford #privateschool #creativecurriculum

  • Enjoy a snapshot of some of the clubs running at Heath Mount this term. From making damper bread over an open fire and learning how to throw a javelin, to sewing quilts and coding, there's something for everyone to enjoy! Our clubs programme provides the chance for children to learn new skills or deepen their passion for certain subjects and forms part of our comprehensive wraparound care offering - giving parents the flexibility they need without having to organise separate after-school childcare. Did you know? All of our internal co-curricular clubs are included in our fees! • At Heath Mount, we start pupils swimming early. Swimming is embedded in the curriculum for all pupils, with weekly sessions starting in Reception. Using interactive songs, games, and play, our highly experienced coaches make each lesson fun and stimulating. In the next few weeks, our Nursery pupils will have their first splash in the pool, with specially crafted taster sessions designed to get them excited about starting lessons next academic year. Why is swimming so beneficial to children under 5? The benefits of swimming extend far beyond water safety and physical progress, to enhanced brain development and a marked increase in maths and literacy skills.* Learning to swim involves following instructions, problem-solving, counting, and developing verbal skills, all of which are key skills for young learners. It also has an emotional and social impact. Gaining confidence in the water can be a struggle for some children, but by facing their fears and facing challenges, they build self-esteem and resilience, essential skills that also support their ability to learn. Want to learn more about our specialist swimming and physical education provision in the Early Years? Email Louise at registrar@heathmount.org or visit the link in bio to book your private tour with the Headmaster. *Research undertaken by Professor Roby Jorgensen at the Griffith Institute for Educational Research found that children who start swimming young, achieve a host of skills sooner than those who don't. He shared that "children were anywhere from six to 15 months ahead of the normal population when it came to cognitive skills, problem-solving in mathematics, counting, language and following instructions." #loveswimming #privateschool #curriculum #swimming #earlyyears #development #reception
