A Merry Heath Mount Christmas

Discos, Parties and Carols End The Term On A High Note

This week we have packed in as much fun and Christmas spirit as possible to mark the end of another

Boarders' Bowling Party

extraordinary year at Heath Mount.  Our boarders enjoyed a brilliant trip to Hollywood Bowl followed by a party back in school as they celebrated another successful year of boarding.

The excitement built as we hosted our annual House Masked Singer event featuring the hidden vocal talents of staff members from across the school.

Our wonderful parents’ association, the du Maurier Society, further ramped up the fun by hosting Christmas discos for Pupils in Years 3-8 and organising an atmospheric Santa’s Grotto for our Pre-Prep pupils.

We are grateful to our amazing catering team from Holroyd Howe who served up the most scrumptious Christmas lunch with all the trimmings for over 600 pupils and staff.  They were ably assisted in the Prep School by our Year 8 ‘elves’ who helped serve the younger pupils and clear the tables.

The term ended with our annual Carol Service in the majestic surrounds of Haileybury Chapel.   Our choirs, instrumentalists and readers helped re-tell and celebrate the story of Jesus' birth with their sublime music and traditional readings.

Heath Mount's Bax Choir sang Ruth Schram's stunning arrangement of Silent Night as their opening piece, accompanied by guest cellist Lawrence Durkin (see the clip below). It really was as if a choir of angels had descended on the chapel! The choir continued to show their versatility and range with the sixteenth century Gaudete sung a Capella against a dramatic drum beat followed by the lively Tsaba Tsaba, a traditional song from

Botswana complete with complex clapping rhythms, which couldn't fail to make the congregation smile. Chamber Choir also delighted with their songs Sing We Now Of Christmas! and Andrew Parr's Peace On Earth, Goodwill to All - truly capturing the joy of the lyrics in their singing. The service ended with Concert Band's rousing performance of Fantasy on Deck the Hall which earned a huge round of applause. Well done to all our singers and instrumentalists who have put so much time and effort into rehearsing for this moment over the last couple of months and thank you to Ms Morris, Mr Fisher and the whole music department for their outstanding dedication to nurturing the children's talents.

We wish all of our Heath Mount community a restful and happy holiday.
