Lunar New Year Celebrations

This morning we welcomed Holly from Dance Days to give our Nursery children a special Chinese New Year themed dance workshop.  After a quick warm-up, the children acted out some different animals in the zodiac before learning traditional moves with their beautiful parasols.  The session ended with an exciting dragon dance!

There was much excitement when they followed the tradition of waking the dragon by adding eyes to the costume just before performing a dragon dance.

In Lower School, meanwhile, several Year 4 pupils confidently led an assembly on Chinese New Year traditions, telling their peers how they celebrate at home and sharing some interesting facts.

Across the school, everyone enjoyed a lunchtime of noodles, sweet and sour chicken balls, hoisin pulled pork pancakes, vegetable spring rolls and fortune cookies!
