Drama

At Heath Mount, our wish is for every child to have the confidence to stand up in front of their peers and others and express themselves. In drama lessons the emphasis is on enjoyment, confidence-building and developing performance skills such as improvisation and projection through games, group drama sessions and major performances.

From Nursery up to Year 8, each year group has various opportunities to shine whether in special assemblies, Christmas shows or annual productions. Drama lessons are provided from Year 1 upwards and weekly LAMDA lessons are also available.  Our 200-seat state-of-the-art theatre is an inspiring place for any budding actors and actresses to start their journey as well as those interested in behind-the-scenes and technical aspects of theatre.

LAMDA

Coaching for LAMDA examinations in both communication and performance subjects is offered as a weekly extra-curricular activity in half-hourly lessons.  The exams are rooted in encouraging participants to develop a love of literature, poetry and drama, and hence improve standards of communication through the spoken word.  Subjects include Verse and Prose Speaking, Acting, Speaking in Public, Reading for Performance, Miming and Devising Drama.

Heath Mount pupils enjoy their LAMDA lessons and do extremely well in the exams that they take at the end of each period of study, with many achieving merit and distinction. Fees apply
