Heath Mount Chosen As Finalist In School Awards

We are delighted to announce that Heath Mount has been chosen as a Finalist in the category of Passionate About Sport in the Muddy Stilettos School Awards 2025 in association with Debrett's Education.

Hero Brown, Editor-in-Chief of the Muddy Stiletto's Schools Guide, writes:

"It’s clear that you are doing something different and exciting in the education space.  Congratulations to you and your team on your achievement – it’s so very well-deserved, especially as we have had our most competitive year ever for school entries."

Heath Mount is one of just five schools nationwide to make the finals, with the overall winner due to be announced on July 1st.

We are so proud of our amazing sports department, led by Director of Sport, Joe Elliott.  Over the past few years our revamped PE programme and sports scholarship programme have led to pupils being fitter, stronger and healthier across the board.  We have also seen some remarkable sporting achievements on a national scale, achieving multiple IAPS titles in 2024 and 2025, as well as an increase in the number of sports scholarships awarded to our pupils from their senior schools.

Over the past 3 years, the number of pupils gaining scholarships to their senior schools has steadily risen despite the competitive nature of such awards. In 2025, 12 senior school sports scholarships were awarded to 11 pupils in Year 8 - this is equivalent to 25% of the whole year group of 44 pupils and an 11% increase since the revamped programme began in 2023. This year the awarding schools are: Millfield, Oundle, Rugby School, Haileybury, Uppingham, Bishop’s Stortford College, Felsted and Bishop’s Stortford College.

Impressive numbers of pupils are also being accepted onto county, regional and even national pathways.  Most of all, our pupils are given the opportunity to find a sport they love and understand both the physical and mental benefits of keeping active.  We even offer an alternative sports programme for those who do not wish to play team fixtures, instead providing opportunities to discover rock climbing, abseiling and canoeing.

We're certainly a school that's passionate about sport and we are thrilled that this has been recognised by the judges at Muddy Stiletto's!
