ADMISSIONS
How many pupils are there at Heath Mount?
Heath Mount is a thriving Prep School with around 500 pupils ranging in age from 3 to 13.
What age can my child join Heath Mount?
Children can join Pre-Nursery from the term they turn three. Entry points include Nursery, Reception, and Year 1 upwards. Pupils may be registered from birth, and early registration is encouraged due to high demand.
Is Heath Mount a selective school?
No, Heath Mount is not academically selective. However, children joining from Year 1 upwards complete informal assessments in English and Maths during a taster day to ensure they can access the curriculum.
What is the admissions process?
The admissions process includes visiting the school for a tour and meeting with the headmaster, registering with a £120 fee per child, attending a taster day, and then paying a £1,200 deposit per child (refunded when your child leaves Heath Mount) once you have confirmed that you would like your child/children to join the school. Our Registrar will happily guide you through every step of the admissions process.
Fees & Financial Support
What are the current termly fees?
- Nursery: £3,020 (5 sessions) or £5,055 (10 sessions)
- Reception–Year 2: £7,002
- Years 3–4: £9,066; Years 5–6: £9,126; Years 7–8: £9,414
- Flexi-boarding and some wraparound care incur additional charges but the cost of most of our after-school clubs are included in the fees.
Do you offer bursaries or scholarships?
Yes. Means-tested bursaries are available for Year 3 and above. Scholarships in Academic, Art, Music, Drama, and Sport are offered for Year 7 entry. There is no fee remission attached to a scholarship, but full programme costs are covered.

What curriculum does Heath Mount follow?
Heath Mount’s diverse and challenging curriculum goes far beyond the national curriculum and encourages academic curiosity and creativity while fostering a love of learning. Progress is continuously assessed, monitored and tracked through the year.
Has Heath Mount’s curriculum been celebrated by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI)?
Yes, in their 2025 report ISI noted that “Teachers have ambitious expectations for their pupils and enable them to make typically rapid progress. They provide an appropriate blend of challenge and support by delivering a programme of well-planned teaching informed by effective use of assessment data and expert subject knowledge.”
Do you teach PSHEE?
Yes, PSHEE is integral to the curriculum, covering health, relationships, financial capability, and personal safety, alongside assemblies and enrichment activities
Senior Schools
Which senior schools do Year 8 pupils move on to?
Heath Mount pupils move on to a broad range of senior schools including Haileybury, Eton, Harrow, Westminster, Bishop’s Stortford College, St Albans School, Oundle, Uppingham, Rugby, Millfield, Framlingham, The Leys, Gresham’s, Felsted, Brighton College and St Edmund’s.
Are Heath Mount pupils awarded scholarships by their senior schools?
Yes. In 2024/25 an astonishing 52% of pupils achieved one or more scholarships to their senior school across academia, sport, art, music and drama.
Extra-Curricular Activities
What clubs and activities do you offer?
Over 50 clubs weekly, including sports, music, drama, coding, STEM, and mindfulness. Specialist clubs like ballet, judo and LAMDA are also available.
Do pupils go on trips?
Yes, we offer pupils a broad range of day trips and from Year 5 pupils also experience an annual residential trip. Our older pupils are also offered the opportunity to travel to international destinations such as France for skiing, a sports tour to Italy, a bi-annual trip to Florida for STEM and an annual trip to Zambia for charity work.
