Making Heath Mount history on the IAPS netball court!

On the first day of the summer term there were jubilant scenes as we saw the U11 girls crowned national IAPS netball champions in Kent. This was the first time in Heath Mount history that the school has achieved the U11 title, having previously won the IAPS National Netball championships in every other age group. This special team achieved an unbeaten run of 8 games, with straight wins in their pool enabling them to qualify for the national quarter-final.

They went on to achieve a 6-1 win in the quarter-final against Twyford, a 9-4 win against North London Collegiate Prep and a thrilling 11-7 win in the final against Orchard House. What is perhaps most special about this group is the fact we didn't have a team carried by one-or two-star players. This was a team in which every girl played an equal part, and it was the way they came together, responding instinctively to one another, that put them ahead.

Over the past 3 years, Heath Mount School have not only qualified for every single national final in every single age group, but the girls’ results have been nothing other than phenomenal. In the past 9 finals, Heath Mount School have achieved 5 golds, 2 silvers and a bronze. This is a testament to the girls' hard work and attitude to their training as well as our coaches' expertise and dedication.

In addition, Year 7 pupil Lily has been named Centre of the Year for the National Youth Premier League by ENG. Lily captained the U12 IAPS team this year to their national runner-up silver medal and has been a driving force in the centre court for the school. We look forward to hearing about the exciting things to come for Lily in the next year.

Congratulations also go to the 10 Heath Mount pupils who have represented Hertford Hockey this season.  This was our largest ever cohort to be selected for the county side and a huge testament to the girls' hard work.
