Staff Scale 3 Peaks In Aid Of Charity

Incredible feat of endurance raises over £2,800

We are immensely proud of the group of teachers and operational staff who climbed the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours to raise money for our partner charity, Twende Education For All in Zambia.  It was a physically and mentally gruelling test, but they made it in 23 hours, 52 minutes!  Their efforts will help support young patients undergoing long-term hospital treatment in Lusaka, funding the work of Twende's incredible teachers to ensure the children in the cancer and sickle cell wards receive education and play therapy and their parents are supported, too.

After a 9-hour minibus drive to Scotland, the group started at Ben Nevis at 16:51 on Wednesday and finished at Mount Snowdon at 16:43 via Scafell Pike on Thursday. The team endured freezing temperatures, driving rain and 50mph winds - at one point scrambling up the side of Scafell Pike in the dark on their hands and knees.

The team was led by Head of Boys' Sport, Dave Archer, and included Deputy Head, Mrs Archer, Future Schools Manager, Mrs Fiddes, Year 5 teacher, Mr Naylor, Head of swimming, Ms Prior, and Year 3 teacher, Mr Stevenson.  They were joined by Mr Kimberley, Year 4 teacher, and Mrs Annies, Head of Computing, who trekked Ben Nevis before providing minibus driving and vital support to the rest of the group.

We look forward to giving them all a hero's welcome when we return to school on Monday!
