Speech Day 2025

The academic year came to a close with a sun-drenched Speech Day.  It was a pleasure to welcome families from Years 3-8 for a chance to reflect on the many achievements of our leavers and of our community as a whole. We also welcomed a special guest speaker, Jules Howard. The famed zoologist gave a humorous, insightful speech in which he described his unusual career trajectory (his break-through moment being when he was asked to head up a national frog helpline!). He also focussed on his love of collecting, not just data on newts and endangered spider species, but memories and experiences, too - even the more painful ones!

We also heard from Juliette Hodson, Chair of Governors, who spoke to the guests about the school's many achievements this year, including our exceptional Inspection report, and thanked her fellow board members - in particular Mr James Steel and Mrs Sarah Capwell, who have contributed their time, guidance and expertise so generously.

Mr Bowden and Mrs Archer read out the individual scrolls for each Year 8 pupil, celebrating their  personal achievements during their time at Heath Mount, while Mr Gillam and Mr Howard handed out the prizes. At the end of the ceremony, we enjoyed two wonderful speeches from our Head Girl and Head Boy followed by strawberries, prosecco and shirt-signing on the Fountain Lawn!
